Stone Honor Band
Stone Middle School Honor and Symphonic Bands recently competed at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading in Mt. Pleasant on April 17 and 18. The honor band received straight ones on stage and in sight-reading and took home a Sweepstakes trophy. The Symphonic Band also earned a 1st Division in UIL Sight-Reading. This is the 27thstraight year that this organization has received a Sweepstakes.
Competing earlier in the Peak Music Festival at the Eisemann Center in Richardson on April 13, the Honor Band received a first division. In addition they earned Best in Class in the 2C Division and Most Outstanding Band in the Middle School Division. Other awards received were Most Outstanding Sections for the Bassoon, Trumpet, and Euphonium section. Individual recognitions went to Mackenzie Beckmon for Most Outstanding Soloist on a flute and Emily Johnson on clarinet.
The Symphonic Band were awarded two more 1st Division trophies after competing at the Invitational Contest on April 4 and the Canton Music Festival on May 3. Symphonic Band members pictured from left are Dani Hicks, Nicholas Campbell, Ty Lane, Adrian Hobbs and Hailey Stidham.
