North Lamar High School choirs received top ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading contest held in Canton on April 5th. Ladies Chorale received a 1st division rating on their concert performance and is the highest rating a choir can receive for this contest. Chamber Singers, a mixed choir, received a sweepstakes. A sweepstakes award is given to choirs who receive a 1st division on stage and on sight-reading.
Choirs are required to perform three songs for the concert portion of the contest. Of these three songs, one must be a cappella. Choirs are also required to sight-read a song to which they have never seen. Ratings are given on a scale of 1-5, 1 being the highest rating, for each performance (concert & sight reading).
NLHS choirs are under the direction of Rebecca Hildreth, Cheryl Townsdin and Michelle Anderson.
