The Christian Homeschoolers in Paris (CHIP) Robotics Team will be competing on Saturday October 20th, 2012 at the Lion’s Pride B.E.S.T. competition at Texas A&M Commerce, Texas. B.E.S.T. is a non-profit organization which inspires students to pursue careers in engineering, science and technology.
The CHIP Robotic Team won the Founder’s Award for Creative Design in last year’s competition, its first year to compete. Eighteen area public and private schools competed in last year’s event.
This year’s theme is Warp XX, where teams must design a robot that simulates a space elevator, which could be used to transport objects to and from space. The project encourages a total business model where students work in specific areas to promote the team, such as marketing, engineering, record keeping, robot design and presentation. The team will be judged in five different areas at Saturday’s competition. In addition their robot must complete various tasks in a limited amount of time to earn points to demonstrate its effectiveness.
The CHIP Robotics team has been working diligently the last 5 weeks on their robotics program and is looking forward to the competition.
The CHIP Robotics team includes Taylor Lee, Brianna Spier, Truman Lee, Kylie Dennis, Seth Jones, Nathanael Wiebe, Brianna Herndon, Jacob Jones, Dillon Moore, Randall Henry, Noah Jones, Charlie Pete Porter, Justin Welch, Sierra Herndon, and Chandler Jones.
