Paris Regional Medical Center Becomes Baylor Scott & White Health Affiliate
We are very excited to announce a new five-year affiliation with Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in the state. This partnership will provide us with advisory expertise, continuing medical education opportunities, and enhanced emergency preparedness capabilities.
The affiliation will help us expand our expertise in several areas, including cardiology, digestive diseases, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, and women’s services (high-risk obstetrics and neonatal intensive care unit services), and will allow us to implement additional quality and safety programs throughout the hospital. For our community, this means less travel to Dallas for Baylor-caliber health care. Now, we have access to one of the state’s – and the country’s – top-tier health systems right in our own backyard.
In the coming weeks, we will host an event to help us welcome our new Baylor partners at the hospital, and we’ll be sure to let you know more as those details are finalized.
Did You Know? Many of PRMC’s own physicians were trained at Baylor Scott & White Health.
It is with honor that we welcomed U.S. Congressman Ralph Hall to Paris Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 17. During his visit to the hospital, we toured some of our most recent advancements, including our surgical suites and our emerging robotics surgical program, as well as met with members of our Medical Staff and key community leaders.
Born in Fate, TX, in Rockwall County, Congressman Hall has served Northeast Texas with distinction since 1980. Throughout his public service, Congressman Hall has always maintained a keen interest and active involvement in the health care industry, and we are pleased he visited with us to see the progress made during the last 18 months and to see firsthand the investments we have made in our community’s health and wellbeing.
Did You Know? At age 90, Congressman Hall is the oldest serving member of Congress and one of only two World War II veterans currently serving in Congress.
In early December, Paris Regional Medical Center’s da Vinci Surgical System arrived. The da Vinci “robot” will allow our surgeons to perform routine and complex surgeries using just a few small incisions – helping to speed up healing time for our patients.
Additionally, the da Vinci technology features a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and tiny wristed instruments, which enable our surgeons to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity, and control. Surgeons can use the da Vinci robot in the treatment of several conditions, including colorectal cancer, coronary artery disease, endometriosis, kidney disorders and cancer, obesity, prostate cancer, and throat cancer.
Physicians across the world have successfully used the da Vinci system in approximately 1.5 million various surgical procedures to date – we’re eager to join them in the use of this innovative technology.
Technology like this requires a significant investment, but it’s one we’re more than willing to make, as it allows patients to have access to the most advanced treatment options without traveling out of the region for care. Access to advanced technologies, like the da Vinci robot, lets people get back to their families, their homes, their work, and their lives much more quickly – and that’s why we do what we do.
The da Vinci Surgical System is just one of many investments we have planned at the hospital for the coming year and will help to keep PRMC a top-tier provider in the state of Texas.
Did You Know? Even though it is called a “robot,” the da Vinci system cannot move or operate on its own – the surgeon is in complete control 100% of the time.
