“It’s just the beginning; we have another $6.5 to $10 million we want to spend next year,” Chad Patrick, RegionalCare Hospital Partners division president, said during Saturday’s open house at the new edition at Paris Regional Medical Center. Turning to Chief Executive Officer Bill Porter he added: “Bill, no more than that. We have other hospitals.”
When Essent merged with RegionalCare, the Northward Bound project grew by about $6 million.
Paris is looking forward to that, said Melissa Cook, Lamar County Chamber of Commerce president.
“We are excited about this new edition to the hospital,” she said. “We appreciate your decision to invest in this community.”
People have discussed moving the hospital services to the north campus for years, Porter said. The reality comes about a year after RegionalCare Hospital Partners merged with PRMC owner Essent Healthcare.
“Today represents another milestone in the history of our hospital,” Porter said. “This facility will enable us to provide extraordinary care to the Paris area for many years to come.”
Attendees got to go on a tour of the addition’s first floor. The tour started in a pre-admit testing area, then to a space set aside for speech, occupational and physical therapy.
Hospital personnel also showed off the nuclear medicine area, which has its own CT scan and X-ray machines to keep from backlogging emergency room and in-patient areas. Some of the rooms have “sky tiles” to give patients something to look at and alleviate claustrophobia. The outpatient department also handles ultrasound, mammography and bone density testing and features male and female changing/waiting rooms.
The tour also included large photographs on easels to show off areas not on the tour, such as treatment rooms, intensive care and emergency room waiting rooms, surgeon areas and patient rooms.
