Changes Will Bring Additional Services, Larger Emergency Room
Officials at Paris Regional Medical Center (PRMC) said today that the hospital will consolidate the emergency departments from the two campuses into one location effective October 12, 2012.
The Emergency Department on PRMC South Campus, located on 820 Clarksville Street, will close on October 12th at 7:00 a.m. and all services will be located on PRMC North Campus Emergency Department, located on 865 DeShong Drive. All emergency medical services will be rerouted and directed to the North Campus Emergency Department.
“With the move and consolidation of our Emergency Department services to one location we hope that it provides easier access to not only the people in the community of Paris, but also those surrounding communities that we serve. We continue to expand and improve the care we provide the region and this is an important step in that process.” said PRMC CEO Bill Porter.
The Emergency Department consolidation is just part of the nearly completed $25 million “Northward Bound” facility investment project. The expansion in the Emergency Department includes the addition of six new treatments bays (for a total of 17) and a new “Fast Track,” area which allows non-urgent visits to be seen more quickly. There is also an expanded “Fast Track” waiting area for patients and their families.
“The newly renovated and expanded North Campus ED will allow us to better serve our patients,” said Carolyn Kain, Director of Emergency Department for Paris Regional Medical Center. “We are committed to providing our patients with the highest level of compassionate care and we believe this expansion will allow us to meet the needs of our region for a long time.”
