The downtown branches of Capital One Bank will shut their doors for good in October.
The bank at 104 Bonham St. and drive-up branch at the corner of 3rd Street Northwest and Price will cease operation Oct. 7. The branch at 2800 Lamar Ave. is scheduled to remain open.
“This was a difficult decision and one that Capital One leaders do not take lightly,” Capital One spokesman Steven Thorpe said. “We regularly review our business operations to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible. A decision like this is made as a result of thoughtful analysis.”
The corporation started notifying employees on June 7 to give them time to look for other jobs within Capital One or elsewhere.
Capital One is the second major bank in Paris to announce closure plans. In May, Bank of America said it would be shutting its local branch in late September. Bank of America is located at 1161 Clarksville St. with a motor bank at 1160 Lamar Ave.
