Reno Police Department involved in Christmas Eve vehicle pursuit

RenoA shoplifting call at the Paris Walmart store resulted in a Christmas eve chase that involved several law enforcement agencies, ending in Clarksville.

Alvin Henry Jr., 54, of Clarksville was taken into custody in Clarksville and booked into the Red River County Jail.

Lamar County dispatch alerted Reno police to a maroon sedan headed east on U.S. 82 after a man left Walmart after two associates left without paying for items taken from the store.

Reno Police observed a maroon sedan as described by dispatch, traveling east on Lamar and moving faster than other traffic.

A Reno police vehicle turned around, attempting to stop the vehicle, which accelerated as the chase picked up. The Red River County sheriff’s office, assisted by the Texas Department of Public Service and eventually Clarksville police, picked up the chase in Red River County.

The vehicle was brought to a stop in the 300 block of North Street in Clarksville, where Henry was arrested.

Authorities said the pursuit lasted about 20 minutes and covered about 25 miles. No one was injured, officials said.
