About 10 a.m. on Sunday, two women were arrested after they were seen concealing merchandise in the 3000 block of Clarksville and leaving the store without paying for it, Paris police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said.
Gordon was also charged with exploitation of a child, by placing items inside a purse and giving it to her 9-year-old to carry, and also placing clothing items on the child, then leaving the store without paying for the items.
It was later found that Bailey had at least two prior convictions for theft so her charge was enhanced to a felony. Bailey was also found to have two outstanding felony warrants for her arrest.
Over the three-day weekend from Friday through Sunday, Paris police responded to 333 calls for service, resulting in 18 arrests, mostly on misdemeanor charges, Garrett said.
A 23-year-old man was treated and released at the emergency room of Paris Regional Medical Center for injuries he said he received in Culbertson Park on Friday at the hands of two men unknown to him.
The man told police he was approached in the park by the two men, and one of them hit him with a fist, knocking him out.
Witnesses said the two men then got back into a vehicle they had arrived in, and the witnesses said they heard two gunshots, Garrett said.
An investigation continues, Garrett said.
