A 19-year-old Paris man has been jailed on a felony charge of unlawful restraint in connection with an ex-girlfriend’s complaint that he abducted her.
Tracy Hunter Bratcher, 19, was taken into custody about 4 p.m. Thursday when he came to the Paris Police Department to turn himself in on criminal mischief and assault warrants unrelated to the kidnapping case, police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said.
Police responded to the Paris Junior College campus shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday in response to a call about a possible kidnapping.
Officers met with an 18-year-old woman who said Bratcher took her against her will, drove her out in the county, and threw her cell phone from the car.
She said she later was driven to Deport, where Bratcher left with another man. She then drove back to Paris unharmed, she told investigators.
Through the investigation, it was found that the woman had been out of town with friends and, upon arriving back in Paris, Bratcher arrived at her location in the 2300 block of Kimberly Street.
Paris police responded to 110 calls for service on Thursday, resulting in eight arrests, Garrett said.
