A 2-year-old child was abducted from Walmart on Thursday afternoon, taken by the father from the custody of the child’s mother at a local grocery store, according to Paris police department spokesman Curtis Garrett.
The motive for the abduction was unclear, but during police investigation, “officers found that the incident was an ongoing parental dispute between the mother and father,” Garrett said.
Descriptions of the suspect vehicle from witnesses at the scene led officers to the 3300 block of Clarksville Street where the vehicle was located. The child’s grandmother was in the vehicle and provided information that led to the location of the child and father in the Blossom area, Garrett said.
Cameron Colvin, 22, was arrested on Class C misdemeanor assault charges because of injuries the mother received during the incident, Garrett said, and the child was returned to the mother.
