Paris police officers responded to 409 calls for service over the long Labor Day weekend from Friday through Monday, resulting in 34 arrests, Police Chief Bob Hundley said.
After receiving a report of stolen prescription medications, officers located two Paris women who had been named as suspects and found them to be in possession of the types of drugs reported stolen, Hundley said.
Christi Lee Cannady, 35, of 191 County Road 12390, and Samantha Diane Totty, 34, of 121 Northeast 8th Street, were arrested and jailed on multiple counts of possession of dangerous drugs.
Hundley said an investigation is continuing into a reported attempted robbery in the 1300 block of Northeast 26th Street.
A man told officers he was approached by a man holding what he thought to be a pistol, and they began fighting. He said his wife came outside when she heard the altercation and the man fled without taking anything.
The man said his assailant was about six feet tall, 180 pounds, wearing a burgundy hoodie, blue pants and a light blue bandana that covered his face.
Hundley said the victim was treated on the scene by Paris EMS and declined further treatment.
