With the identity unknown since its discovery on Thursday, June 13, the badly decomposed body that was found beneath a bridge on FM 2122 in southwest Lamar County has now been identified by officials, although the cause and manner of death are still to be determined by the investigators and the Medical Examiner, according to Sheriff Scott Cass.
On Friday, June 14, the Medical Examiner from American Forensics in Mesquite, Texas confirmed that the deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Tramaine Jarrod Kellum, an African American male who was last spoken to over the phone by his wife on June 8 and officially reported missing to the Paris Police Department on Monday, June 10.
“The cause and manner of death are pending at this time, awaiting the Medical Examiners preliminary report. The case is still under investigation and the Sheriff’s Office is currently working this as a homicide,” Sheriff Cass said. “Sheriff investigators, along with Ranger McNeal will continue working with Paris Police detectives assigned to the missing person case to apprehend those responsible for this violent crime.”
Investigators are still looking for Kellum’s vehicle – a silver 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis, bearing TX license plates BX8-P511.
Anyone that has seen this vehicle, knows of its whereabouts or has any other information regarding this case, please contact the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, the Paris Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” Sheriff Cass said in closing.
