Joshua Bramlett Hoffman, 34, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child and injury to a child with intent to do bodily harm for events that took place in July 2010 and February 2012 respectively.

The guilty plea came just as Hoffman’s trial was about to begin Thursday morning.

Judge Eric Clifford sentenced Hoffman to serve 20 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child, and will serve five years concurrently for injury to a child according to Lamar County judicial records.

Hoffman was charged with multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault, injury to a child with intent to do bodily harm, multiple counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, as well as continuous sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age.

The sexual assaults began in 2010 and lasted for nearly two years when the abuse was discovered after an interview of the child at the Child Advocacy Center.

Hoffman has a long history of recidivism, dating back to 1999 for several convictions including burglary, forgery of a financial instrument, driving while intoxicated, and marijuana possession.

He had been free on $150,000 bond after his arrest last March.
