Joshua Bramlett Hoffman, 34, is charged with injury to a child with intent to do bodily harm, six counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, as well as continuous sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age.

The charges stem from events that began in July 2010 and lasted for nearly two years when Hoffman was arrested in early 2012. The investigation stemmed from an interview of the child at the Child Advocacy Center where the child first reported the abuse.

Jury selection for the trial is scheduled to begin Wednesday with testimony beginning on Thursday in 6th District Court held downtown at the courthouse.

Hoffman has a long history of recidivism, dating back to 1999 for several convictions including burglary, forgery of a financial instrument, driving while intoxicated, and marijuana possession.

He is currently free on $150,000 bond after his arrest last March.
