Benjamin Lynwood Bethel, age 31, of Paris, turned himself into the Paris Police Department on a Felony Arson warrant, after being one of two suspects involved in the attempt to maliciously burn a residence, according to Paris PD Public Information Officer Curtis Garret.
After inflaming the residence the two were spotted by witnesses leaving the scene in a vehicle.
However, after thorough investigation from the Police Department and the Paris Fire Department, good witness statements and persistence, both arsonists have been apprehended.
Bethel was the second suspect arrested in the Arson case that occurred on December 15 in the 500 block of 13th Street, where it was reported that two suspects threw ‘improvised incendiary’ objects (Molotov Cocktails) at the porch of the residence.
Police arrested first James Mark Morgan, 46, of Paris, earlier this week for his role in the crime.
Both suspects were transported to the Lamar County Jail to await trial.
Paris Police responded to 96 ‘calls for service’ on Thursday, January 4, and arrested eight persons on Class C Misdemeanor warrants and one for Felony Arson.
