Police arrest arsonist – Paris PD Press Release – January 3

policeA man was arrested yesterday on Arson charges for his role in a structure fire on SE 13th Street that happened earlier in December, according to Paris PD Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett.

Paris Police arrested James Mark Morgan, 46, of Paris, on a warrant for Arson following the investigation the incident.  It was found that Morgan and an accomplice had attempted to burn the residence down following an argument in the 500 block of SE 13th St.  The accomplice is still at large and being sought for arrest also.

Officers also responded to a car crash on the NE Loop.  Preliminary investigation indicates a Phillip Williams, 57, of Avery, was traveling east on the loop when he suffered a medical issue and lost control of his 2000 Chevy Impala.  The vehicle crossed the median into westbound traffic and on to the shoulder where the car came to rest after hitting two signs. Amazingly, no westbound vehicles were struck. Mr.  Williams was airlifted to Parkland hospital in Dallas.

Paris Police responded to 72 calls for service and arrested five persons on Wednesday, January 02, 2013. Two were arrested on class c misdemeanor violations, one for a felony Arson warrant and two on emergency detentions.
