Officers with the Paris Police Department arrested 28-year-old, Roy Blaketer, after he allegedly choked a female family member to the point of not being able to breath, according to Paris Police Chief, Bob Hundley.
On Saturday, September 8, at around 10pm, an officer was dispatched to a family disturbance in the 400 block of NE 8th Street.
When the officer arrived on the scene, he made contact with Roy Blacketer, who attempted to walk away, but was quickly taken into custody.
Investigation revealed that Blacketer had allegedly chocked a female family member, cutting off her breathing, during an argument about prescription medication, according to police.
The victim was able to hit Blacketer in the face several times, freeing herself from the choke hold. As the victim tried to escape from the house, Blacketer was alleged to have continued the attack by grabbing her by the throat and throwing her into the front yard.
Blacketer was arrested and charged with a 2nd degree Felony Assault by Impeding Breathing.
According to Police Chief Hundley, there are no current updates involving the auto-pedestrian crash that happened on Saturday.
