Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Paris police officers responded to a call at Bonham and 19th Street, where a man complained that a man unknown to him drove away in his vehicle while he was inside a convenience store.
The owner said he left the engine running in the parking lot while he went inside to speak with his wife. He said he saw a man get into his car, and attempted unsuccessfully to stop him.
Curtis Garrett, public information officer for the police department, said the vehicle was located about 5 a.m. Thursday in a driveway in the 1900 block of Brown Avenue.
The incident is under investigation, Garrett said.
From mid-morning Wednesday until mid-morning Thursday, the police department responded to 92 calls for service, Garrett said. There were 11 arrests — three for public intoxication, three for possession of drug paraphernalia, two on traffic warrants, two on a motion to revoke probation, and one for disorderly conduct.

Charles Richards moved to Paris in 2004 after retiring from a 40-year career in journalism – the last 26 years as a news writer and sports writer with The Associated Press in Dallas and Washington, D.C. Then in early 2005, he was switched to coverage of a sharply divided Paris City Council. He was appointed by the City Council in 2006 to the 12-member City Charter Review Commission, which extensively rewrote the outmoded document. Bush, David Koresh, Arnold Palmer, Muhammad Ali and numerous other political and sports figures. He is an alumnus of Texas Tech, where he was editor of the school newspaper.
