Over the weekend, Paris police officers arrested 24 people, including a man without a driver’s license who had five arrest warrants for traffic violations, police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said .
About 2:25 p.m. on Sunday, a police officer said he observed Steve Cory Reaves, 41, of 642 W. Sherman St. driving in the 100 block of Southwest Seventh Street. The officer, who said he knew Reaves did not have a current driver’s license, stopped him in the 600 block of West Sherman Street.
Reaves was placed under arrest when police dispatch confirmed that he had five traffic warrants for his arrest. A felony charge was added when a controlled substance was found in his possession.
Bond for Reaves was set at $10,000.
Also reported over the weekend were a burglary of a business, a burglary of a residence, and the break-in of two vehicles.
Other arrests were on the following charges: 14 on Class C misdemeanors, three for public intoxication, two for theft, one for driving while intoxication, one for being in possession of a prohibited weapon and unlawful carrying a weapon, one on a Lamar County warrant, and one for resisting arrest.
