A paris man was arrested on five different charges on July 24, after breaking into and entering an ex-girlfriends home, according to Paris Police Chief, Bob Hundley.
Jessie Eugene Bryant, 26, broke into an ex-girlfriends home on Tuesday while she was away. Upon her return she found Bryant to be in the kitchen making a sandwich and her home ransacked, allegedly by Bryant. Although she already had a criminal trespass warning on him due to previous assaults, the victim remained calm and attempted to make him leave.
However, at one point, Bryant began assaulting the woman, slapping her, placing her in a ‘choke’ hold and punching her several times. He then took her purse and exited the house to get into her car.
The fight continued outside as the victim attempted to get him out of the vehicle, yet was unsuccessful and he drove away with her in the car.
She was able to jump from the vehicle at a stop sign, and he drove away, stealing the car. She immediately returned home and notified law enforcement. As she left the house to stay with a friend, police searched for the stolen vehicle and Bryant.
According to Chief Hundley, as police continued their search, officer Joe Gordon noticed the vehicle in the middle of the street outside the home of the victim abandoned at around 2:30am. The car had an interior light on that had not previously been on, leading police to believe that Bryant was again near or inside the house.
Officers entered the home and found Bryant in a bedroom. He attempted to fight and resist officers as they arrested him. Bryant was charged with burglary of a habitation, a criminal trespass violation, assault, unauthorized us of a vehicle and resisting arrest.
