Paris police respond to 190 calls in two days, arrest 15

Paris police reported making 15 arrests over the 48 hours ending Friday morning – five on arrest warrants, five for possession of a controlled substance, two for possession of marijuana, two for public intoxication, and one for emergency detention.

Over the two-day period, officers responded to 190 calls for service – 95 each day.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, officers stopped a 1986 pickup in the 800 block of Van Zandt Street for a traffic violation.

Upon checking the driver, Jeffery Todd Corbin, 26, of 125 3rd St. NW in Deport and his passenger, Ashley Brooke Law, also of Deport, for warrants, it was discovered that Law had an outstanding traffic warrant.

Officers said they then noticed that among the personal property she was attempting to give Corbin was a baggie of narcotics.

Both were arrested and charged with possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance (PG1).

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday, officers stopped a vehicle on a traffic violation in the 3800 block of Lamar Ave.

Officers said the driver, Coby Sikes, 21, of 1125 Mockingbird, Paris, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, and his passenger, Aaron Greer, 20, of 118 County Road 33100, Sumner, was found to be in possession of marijuana. Both were arrested and booked into Lamar County Jail.

About 5:30 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of NW 19th Street, where a vehicle was reportedly involved in a narcotics violation.

Donald Curtis Smith of 368 Dewey St., Deport, was charged with evading arrest, and Smith and his passenger, Lyndell Wade Haley, 45, of 237 Main St., Deport, were charged with possession of a controlled substance (PG1, less than one gram) in a drug-free zone.
