Update: Sheriff identifies victim of deadly fire at PJ Trailers
Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass has released the findings of the Medical Examiner, after the victim’s body from the PJ Trailers fire (Click for more info) was sent for a forensic autopsy.
The Medical Examiner has identified the deceased person found in the PJ Trailers plant as Jorge Alejandio Palmeros Osorni, who was a sub-contractor that was unaccounted after the fire started and was found in the area where it is believed the fire could have started, the sheriff said.
According to authorities, preliminary autopsy reports show:
- Preliminary Cause of Death: Severe thermal burns
- Manner of Death: Accident
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” Sheriff Cass said.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, pending investigations by the state and local fire marshal, but it has been affirmed that the manufacturing area of the trailer company sustained major damage.
According to authorities with the fire department, the fire may have started as a result of an explosion from a cutting torch.
