Sheriff's detectives arrest teen for burglary of Chicota Baptist Church

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an 18-year old in connection with an investigation into the burglary of the Chicota Baptist Church, according to Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass.

On July 30, the sheriff’s office the burglary that had occurred at the church, located¬†on FM 197 in the Chicota Community.

“Church personnel reported finding the church office doors broken into and food taken from the kitchen area,” Sheriff Cass said. “Further, it was found that a wheel chair was removed from inside the church and a lap top computer was taken from the sound room.”

Detectives gained a ‘burglary of a building’ warrant from the Lamar County District Attorney’s Office on August 07 for a Seqouyah Trey Bailey.

Bailey was arrested on late last week and is currently out on bond.

Further investigation into the burglary is continuing, the sheriff said.
