Weekend Arrests include DWI, Assaults and Criminal Trespass
Paris police officers responded to 325 calls for service Friday through Sunday and arrested 24 people.
At 2:14 PM on July 13, Officers responded to a family disturbance in the 1700 block of W. Walker. A suspect in the altercation had left the scene before officers arrival.
Officers found the individual driving and made a traffic stop. The suspect had no driver’s license and was arrested for that offense. Subsequent investigation revealed that an assault had taken place as well at the complaint location. Benjamin Smith, 28 of Paris was arrested.
Two officers working off-duty security for the Paris Housing Authority observed a Xavier Booker, 18 on PHA property after he had received a criminal trespass warning. Booker was arrested and found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
On July 11th at 7:46 PM, David Lee Mitchell, 58 of Paris was arrested for DWI, 3rd of more. Mitchell was involved in an car crash in the 300 block of E. Provine in which he is alleged to have struck a car and almost hit two pedestrians who were beside the car.
Two people were arrested after fighting with each other with broken beer bottles. Ronnie Jones, 57 and Charlene Green 53 were both charged with Class A Misdemeanor assault. Officers did not find out what started the fight, finding that both individuals had assaulted the other.
