Crime Stoppers "Crime of the Week" - Theft of Copper

crimestoppers logoOver the past 3 weeks, over 7,000 pounds of copper wire have been stolen from utility poles in the western part of Lamar County.

These thefts have been between US 82 West, FM 38 North, FM 2820, and up to FM 79. These thefts have resulted in a loss of over 25,000 feet of copper wire.

Some of these thefts have disrupted service to numerous homes and businesses. Lamar Electric Cooperative has estimated the replacement cost to be over $15,000.

If you have seen any suspicious activity in the areas listed, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers with that information. The information that you have may be the information that is needed to get the suspect or suspects arrested.
