Just after 11 p.m. Tuesday an off-duty police officer noticed smoke coming from the location that is home to Paris Veterinary Associates on Clarksville Street, across from the Paris Police Department. The officer called in the fire department.

Upon arrival black smoke was billowing from the building. The firemen were able to locate the fire in the back of the building and extinquish it.

According to Battalion Chief Jay Daughtrey, a freezer was on fire and was likely the cause. The firemen also found a dog in the building and were able to get it out without harm.
