Police dept. reminds citizens to use 'vacation house check' program

The Paris Police Department wants to remind citizens of the ‘vacation house check’ program, according to Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley.

“One of the officers assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Unit, Curtis Graham, will be coordinating the program within the department and our citizens,” the chief said. “Our Citizens on Patrol volunteer group will be patrolling these homes and provide an on-foot walk-around of homes listed on the VHC checklist several times a week.”

“Citizens just need to register their address, along with the expected time they will be gone, with the department,” he continued. “The needed registration form is listed on the City of Paris website,”

To find the form, navigate to the police department home page and find the crime prevention page. From there, look for the VHC form link on the top right of the page.

Those without internet access can call the police department and leave a name and phone number, and Officer Graham will contact you. Or you can pick one of the forms up at the police department.

“The form will be mailed back to you upon the scheduled return date with notations of when and who checked your property,” the chief said. “This is just another service our volunteers provide to assist the police department and our community.”

Any questions can be directed to Officer Curtis Graham, COP Unit, by telephone at 903-737-4137 or by e-mail at
