Car Accident on Sunday Sends Six to Hospital

Police Department Fire Car_SliderParis Police responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of SW 3rd Street and W. Washington Street. at about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.

“The accident resulted in 6 people being taken to the hospital,” Paris PD spokesman Curtis Garrett said.

It was reported that a 2006 Mitsubishi, driven by 21 year old Joanna Deal, had run a stop sign while sending a text, traveling south in the 700 block of SW 3rd Street, police say.

Ms. Deal’s vehicle was then struck by a 2002 Lincoln Town Car that had four occupants and then lost control, striking a residence before coming to a stop.

“The driver and the front passenger were taken by ambulance to Paris Regional Medical Center, while the other two occupants were taken to PRMC for treatment,” Garrett said. “The front passenger of the Mitsubishi was ejected from the vehicle and taken by air ambulance to Medical Center in Plano.”

“All were treated and released from the hospitals,” Garrett concluded.
