Officers to be Recognized during National Police Week

Police Department Fire Car_SliderIn 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week.

Local law enforcement agencies have planned a public memorial service for May 15th.  The service will be held at the East Paris Baptist Church on Thursday beginning at 6:30 PM for our community.

The speaker for the event will be our County District Attorney, Gary Young.  A color guard made up with officers of local agencies will post the colors and the list of our local fallen officers will be read.

We honor those officers who have provided service and sacrifice for this community since the 1800’s and those officers nationwide.
