3 teens Die, 5 Injured in crash: Updated at 3 p.m. Sunday

Sheriffs-Department_cop-car_stock-img_sliderEarly Sunday morning, three teens died and five were injured when a 2006 Chevy Avalanche driving west on FM 906 crashed just past the Pat Mayse Lake dam near Chicota.

DPS troopers were called to the crash at 12:47 a.m, according to DPS public information officer Mark Tackett.

The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and hit a tree, causing the vehicle to flip several times, according to authorities. Investigators said they suspect alcohol was involved in the incident.

One of the five injured was flown to a Plano hospital for medical treatment; the four others were taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

The deceased were identified as Colbie Miller, 19;¬†Bailee Sims, 19; and Robert Russell, 18, who goes by ‘Andrew’. Troopers’ investigation found that Russell was driving the vehicle, Tackett said. All three were residents of Paris.

The crash is still under investigation, Tackett said.
