Car going wrong direction on Paris' northwest loop collides with truck, injuring one
A 23-year-old Sumner man was transported to a Plano hospital by Eagle Med after his 2000 Ford two-door passenger car collided Tuesday afternoon in the 3600 block of Northwest Loop 286 with a 2014 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer, Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley said.
Nelson Coty was traveling south in the loop’s north-bound lanes at the time of the accident about 4 p.m., Hundley said.
“The investigative report has nto been completed,” Hundley said.
The police department’s preliminary investigation indicated the semi-trailer attempted to swerve to avoid a collision and was struck by Coty’s vehicle, the chief said.
Paris police officers responded to 108 calls on Tuesday, resulting in seven arrests.
“Even though the number of calls and arrests were a little less than routine, most of the calls happened in short-time periods, keeping the officers tied up on calls,” Hundley said.
The accident on the loop was one of 29 calls that officers responded to between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., the chief said.
A juvenile was arrested on a motion to revoke probation and was transported to the Hunt County Juvenile Detention Center.
