Police release surveillance camera photo of suspected robber

Surveillance videoThe Paris Police Department today released a photo, taken off a convenience store’s surveillance video, of a man suspected of robbing a woman after she left the store about 5 a.m. Friday morning.

The woman said she went into the North Main Food Fast and while she was inside, the man apparently hid in the backseat of her car. She said after she returned to her car and drove away, a light-skinned black man in his 40’s rose from the back seat, displayed what she believed to be a knife, and ordered her to give him her money.

The victim said her assailant was about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall wearing glasses with thick lenses. She said he was wearing a brown or green coat and a black toboggan.

“He’s also a smoker with a raspy voice, and he may be from Oklahoma as he made the statement he was trying to get to Hugo,” a police department spokesman said.

The surveillance video shows a man matching that description walking into the store. The video bears a time stamp of about 4:58 a.m., about the time the woman was arriving at the store.”Anyone with information on this person is asked to contact Detective Lt. James Mazy at the Paris Police Department, 903.737.4139,” the spokesman said.
