Joint police/Child Protective Services investigation leads to marijuana discovery in Paris residence
Two Paris men were arrested shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday when officers with a search warrant went to a residence in the 200 block of Southeast 13th Street and discovered marijuana in various locations inside.
Police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said officers went to the location as the result of a joint investigation with the Texas Department of Child Protective Services indicating that marijuana was in the residence.
Tiquinna Keat Johnson, 31, and Aarion Lendell Johnson, 24, were transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Garrett said police responded Monday to 104 calls, resulting in five arrests.
About 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a one-vehicle accident in the 5000 block of Lamar Avenue. a 2010 Toyota Ray 4 driven by Michelle Burleson, 48, of Arthur City had left the roadway and struck a tree.
Garrett said she told officers she was on her cell phone and had run off the road. She was transported to Paris Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
Further investigation revealed that Burleson had been drinking just prior to the accident, Garrett said.
An investigation continues.
