Manhunt: Sheriff's Dept. continues search for armed robbery suspect
The Lamar County Sheriff’s Dept. is in search of an armed robbery suspect that held up two women at knife point in the East Post Oak Community, in eastern Lamar County, on Thursday and then fled on foot. Authorities continue a thorough search for the suspect.
According to Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass, the call reporting the robbery came in around 11 a.m. on Thursday, reporting that a man surprised two women and robbed them at knife point before they made it into their residence as they arrived home.
The victims complied and gave the suspect money, and he then fled on foot from the residence.
The suspect was described by victims as a light skinned black male who is 6’0” to 6’4” tall and has short black hair. He has tattoos on his arms and neck and was wearing an orange shirt with some type of writing on it and dark pants at the time of the robbery.
Sheriff’s detectives learned that a subject described as black male wearing an orange shirt and riding a bicycle was seen on State Highway 82 East and then turned on FM 1502 riding towards the East Post Oak Community shortly before the crime occurred on Thursday, the sheriff said.
The sheriff encourages the public to be vigilant and encourages anyone with any information on this crime or the identity of this suspect to please contact the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department at 903-737-2400 or Crime Stoppers in an effort to solve this crime.
The Sheriff’s Department, state officers, Reno police and other agencies, along with a scent discriminating on-leash tracking dog from the Choice Moore Unit, continue to search for this suspect, reminding everyone to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity and to report it immediately.
“I am asking the citizens to be vigilant in your surroundings and report any suspicious persons and/or vehicles that are in your area to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Cass said.
