26-year-old man turns himself in for reported Jan. 5 sexual assault

A 26-year-old Paris man has surrendered in connection with a reported sexual assault at a residence in the 3700 block of Pine Mill Road on Jan. 5.

PoliceJorge Antonio Rangel of 2338 W. Sherman St. turned himself in at the Paris Police Department about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, said department public information officer Curtis Garrett.

Rangel was booked and transferred to the Lamar County Jail on a charge of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a sexual offense. Bond was set at $20,000.

About 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police made an arrest in the 400 block of Northwest 11 ½ St., where a woman said her boyfriend, Wade Walter Bretz, 51, of 364 County Road 34721, had hit her in the head with a frying pan during a quarrel.

Bretz was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police made three other arrests on Thursday, Garrett said – two for assault and one for emergency detention.

Throughout the day, police made 93 calls for service.
