On Saturday afternoon at 2:07 PM, Paris Police Officers received a complaint of a man with a knife threatening people in the 200 block of NE 41st Street.
The suspect, John Edward Anderson, 45 of Paris had left the location of the original call when officers arrived. The officers found that a family member was following the suspect in a vehicle.
When officers caught up with Anderson and attempted to pull him over, officers reported that the suspect chose to flee.
Officers were aware that there were already three outstanding felony warrants on Anderson; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a felon, Felony Theft and a Parole revocation warrant involving dangerous drugs.
The pursuit wound around the SE portion of the city before heading south from the Loop on FM 1497. The Texas Department of Public Safety and Lamar County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit.
After leaving the city, the pursuit took place along county roads, some paved and some gravel. Around the intersection of CR 15600 and FM 1498, Anderson lost control of his vehicle getting sideways in the road and was struck by a pursuing Paris patrol car.
Anderson was taken into custody at that point. A Paris police officer received minor injuries in the crash and was taken by EMS to a local hospital to be checked out.
The pursuit lasted 22 minutes. No one else was injured in the pursuit. Anderson will face additional charges from the pursuit.
