Vehicle Stuck in the Mud Ends in Tragedy

Lamar County SheriffOn New Years Day at approximately 11:10am a 911 call came in reporting that he found a female subject lying in the roadway on CR 25780 next to a vehicle that was stuck in the mud. First responders, Paris EMS and Lamar County Deputies responded to the scene. They found the woman to be unresponsive and CPR was started. The female was transported to Paris Regional Medical Center where she later died.

Justice of the Peace Gene Hobbs performed the inquest and an autopsy was requested for the deceased.  The deceased was transferred to American Forensics for autopsy.

Deputies learned on scene that the female subject was travelling with her brother when the vehicle became stuck. Both subjects were working to free the vehicle when the brother left on foot to find someone to pull the vehicle out.  A citizen found the female subject lying next to the vehicle while the brother was gone.

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death and no names are being released at this time pending family notifications. The results of the autopsy are pending.  No indications of foul play have been reported at this time.
