Paris police officers have taken into custody a 21-year-old man in connection with an assault on the mother of his children.
Cornelius Dontra “Debo” Gunn was arrested Monday in the 1500 block of Johnson Street on a warrant stemming from an assault that was reported to have occurred last March 7 in the 300 block of Stone Avenue, police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said.
The charge against Gunn was enhanced to a second-degree felony when it was found that Gunn had a previous conviction for family violence assault.
In October 2010, Gunn was held in the Lamar County Jail overnight on a charge of assault causes bodily injury family violence.
In November 2010, he was in jail for six days on charges of failure to appear, assault causes bodily injury family violence, and failure to attend school.
Lamar County Jail records indicate he was incarcerated from Nov. 4, 2012 to Jan. 15, 2013, after his probation was revoked on two family violence assault charges.
Garrett said Paris police responded to 126 calls for service on Monday, resulting in four arrests.
