Six teen-agers between the ages of 13 and 16 have been taken into custody in connection with a fire on Aug. 26 at the alternative school for the Paris Independent School District, formerly known as Travis Junior High in west Paris.
Police Chief Bob Hundley said all six were arrested on Thursday. Five were transported to the youth detention facility in Greenville until court proceedings can occur. The sixth juvenile was released to a parent.
Because they are minors, their names are not being released, but all have been charged with arson, which is a second-degree felony, and with burglary of a building, which is a state jail felony.
Fire Marshal Dale Maberry was assisted in the investigation by Paris Police Detective Pedro Barrios. Other officers in the Criminal Investigation Division also participated in the investigation.
