With the most active severe weather season quickly approaching, the City of Paris will be making a Code RED test call to all subscribers in their database.
This call will be initiated at 6:00 PM on March 6th, 2013, and will have a short message regarding this being only a test call. Caller ID will show ‘ECN’ or ‘Emergency Communications Network’ as the caller.
The database needs a test occasionally to make sure all non-functioning numbers are removed. Calling bad numbers adds time to the total notification when an actual emergency exists. The City’s CodeRED system presently has a little over 16,000 subscribers, with 1352 text subscribers and 1694 e-mail subscribers.
All features of the system will be tested including TDD (hearing impaired) devices, text message, e-mail and voice calls.
If you are not registered for CodeRED or want to check your subscription, visit the city of Paris webpage, www.paristexas.gov – click on ‘sign up for CodeRED’ on the left banner, then on the Emergency Management page, click on ‘Sign-up Here’ at the bottom of the page.
